Edit, create or delete a power plan

A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that control the computer's energy consumption. You can use the power plans to save energy, maximize system performance and balance the energy consumption and performance. The three default power schemes that are - Balanced, Power Saver and High Performance - meet the needs of most users. But you can always modify the settings of existing schedules or create your own schedule.

Change settings for a single schema.

You can change these settings in an individual power plans :
•Hibernating when the computer has been idle for some time.
•Adjust the display brightness.
•Select when the monitor is switched off during periods of inactivity.
1.Open Power Options by clicking the Start, Control Panel, at System and Maintenance and then Power Options.
2.Go to the schedule you want to change and click Change plan settings.
3.On page Change the settings for the schedule enter the settings for display and sleep mode to use while running on battery power and when it is plugged.

Remove a schema

If you have created schemes that you no longer use, you can delete them. But you can not delete a default power plans ( Balanced, Power Saver or High Performance ).
Warning:
When you delete a schedule, you can not restore it.
1.Open Power Options by clicking the Start, Control Panel, at System and Maintenance and then Power Options.
2.If the schedule you want to delete is used, you must first change to a different schedule
3.Go to the schedule you want to change and click Change plan settings.
4.Click Delete this schedule on page Change settings for the schedule.
5.Click OK When prompted to do so.
