Guide to buying an external hard drive

An external hard drive is perfectly fine to make use of if you want to make backups of data in a simple way or if you want to move large amounts of data between computers.
The prices of external hard drives are very diverse. While the simplest models only cost a few hundred pieces, there are advanced models that cost several hundred dollars. Lagringsutrymmets size is of course an important factor in current prices, but also the physical size of disk, cache , rotational speed, and more into play. Generally, 3.5-inch disks cheaper than the 2.5-inch disks .
3.5-inch format is the size most commonly used as internal hard drives in desktop computers are concerned. External hard drives in this format usually have a power adapter. 2.5-inch disks can often be powered directly by the USB cable that you use to connect your hard drive to your computer. There is also this size of hard drives used in laptops. Are you looking for a dish that is quick to connect and want to avoid unnecessary clutter, it is probably a 2.5-inch disk to buy.
Performance
As for the performance of your hard drive you should buy it in addition to the storage size in particular hard drive's rotational speed, seek time and cache size, you'll look closely at.
In the case of the rotational speed is usually the most often be lower in 2-5-inch disks than in the 3.5-inch disks. Avoid drives where the rotational speed is 4500 RPM or lower. The higher the rotational speed you have on your hard drive, the shorter seek time and better performance.
The cache memory on the hard disk is a temporary memory where data is stored in anticipation of your computer to assimilate the information requested. When using a program that is very disk intensive, such as video editing software or music recording, playing cache extra large role. In the current situation, you should have a minimum of 8 MB, preferably 16 MB cache on your drive.
Connection
There are several ways to connect an external hard drive. Firewire , USB and eSATAare the options available and these are ESATA the fastest option. So far, however, relatively few computers that are equipped with an eSATA port and the speed Firewire (800 Mbps) and USB 2 (480Mbps) offers is perfectly adequate for most needs.
In particular PriceSpy and Pricerunner, you can find lots of external hard drives with different specifications of the various different manufacturers.

Laptop battery from the tricky Advertisements

Notebook has the advantage of In addition to small size, can achieve with the desktop the same functionality, there are the more important point, notebook and desktop machine there is another very different, namely, that laptop can no longer rely on conventional Power. In no external power supply the case of is still able to work for some time, which is the laptop can not match advantage.

The reason why have this advantage, both because of Battery Reasons. The IBM Thinkpad T42 Battery is a direct impact on a laptop in the from an external power supply environment to use for how long. So the user in selecting a notebook, usually when will be the battery usage time more sensitive . That is why manufacturers have in the laptop battery fuss, directly or indirectly with the user stress the machine to to achieve Toshiba PA3400U-1BRS battery life how long, or to avoid the battery . Therefore, the author in the rest of of more than the computer the city visiting a circle out of to hand then the dealer 's sales staff handed I leaflets found that gains quite a few . Let's take a look at companies in the end how the said .

• advocacy exaggerated, mistakenly inverted consumers

In the I have got leaflet them, there are many there that their own the machine of“Day Unplugged”、“the real day Calculation of”And so on. I look have to admire the, and now the technology is really made da, growing, and actually be able to with the other brands the machine use capacity considerable Dell Vostro 1700 battery, use of time is the other machineNTimes , it seems, we also have to admire manufacturer the skill of the . Estimated in the near future, perhaps next year we can hear the Pentagon officials proudly said :“Our aircraft carrier, now the fastest speed matter sorted out ICBMs as fast as of the .”
Manufacturers The so-called“all day Unplugged, all-day computing”Were referring to notebook open the machine into operation System. After the screen brightness adjusting to minimum brightness and no longer any operating conditions under, the notebook of standby time.

• the test that is difficult to convince people

The author the hands of Some of of color pages, in which several were found to a more“Interesting”Phenomenon in behind the label the battery part. While stressing the leaflets in the mentioned laptop battery byZiffDavisMedia，Inc.TheBusinessWinstone2002BatteryMarkVersion1.0Professional testing software measured results, while also stressed that has not been relevant the test departments verification . it Since is so, why should put forth? it is for consumers For a time difficult to understand their true to express meaning.

• laptop battery “Units” No standard

Just enter the twenty-first century, only a few years, did not expect laptop battery to start for“Units”, And really do not people admire, community is growing fast, you think about it, Intel 'sCPUAre used“BMW -style”Naming, and the other can not follow the change? NowmA · h( mAh) This unit has been“Obsolete”, And out of fashion now the mainstream trend is to change into“Festival”.
Here with everyone Explain, in fact, laptop battery the right is is a Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad X30 battery pack. Laptop battery by sections (section numbers are to double the number that is even) batteries in parallel with the in series, so that the number of sections the number of lithium battery itself is not wrong. The nature of the problem is that manufacturers use“Festival”Argument , instead of battery life, it is clear is that is to avoid battery this problems, but just from the principle of up to tell consumers. And the use of“Festival”saying The advantage of, manufacturers can always“Flexibility”And cost savings, this is also why it? Plainly very simple, batteries can hold power is not always a standard, that is, number the same HP DV2000 battery, the capacity can be different, sometimes very different, I believe we all know, of large capacity battery certainly the price Higher, this is the same the law of come.
